Fans With Cans

Aloha Fire Friends!

You are invited to contribute to the Fire Tribe Gathering in a new way. A good fire-friend of ours, Julie Woods, has created Fans With Cans, an international, non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to providing food and assistance year-round to food pantries and shelters around the world.

The Fans With Cans concept is simple: have entertainers' fans bring canned food to every performance to be delivered to the local pantry or shelter.

It seems a small stretch to think of ourselves as "Fans Of The Fire"!

We often talk about bringing more love into the world. This is such a simple and easy way to do just that! "To feed people's hearts, you have to fill their bellies first. Fans With Cans is a simple, effective antidote to empty shelves at pantries and shelters worldwide." With this program, bureaucratic overhead is eliminated and those in need are served directly and immediately.

The Hawaii Food Bank is delighted to receive our food donations, particularly items from their "Five Most Wanted" list:

Canned Meats or Tuna Canned Meals (such as Spaghetti, Chili or Corn Beef Hash) Canned Soups Canned Vegetables or Fruits Canned Beans

Please check your pantry for food to donate and bring a few cans to the Gathering. Or, pick up some canned food when you are shopping for your personal contribution to the Fire Tribe Food Altar. We'll have a collection point set up near the check-in area.

When we are feeding each other 'round the fire, let's do so knowing that we have fed others as well!
